Chad Dow Wins The War
Legion Speedway (legionspeedway.tripod.com) Wentworth, NH 9/20/08. Saturday saw the SCONE sprints once again at Legion Speedway with 6 cars in attendance.
In the heat it was Mike Kondrat in the 5 car 1st followed by Si Allen in the 88 for 2nd and Shawn Lawler in the 18L for 3rd. Remaining finishers were: 4th, #59 Chad Dow; 5th #10 Bruce Kimball; and 6th #58 Clay Dow.
In the feature Mike Kondrat started on the outside pole and flew from there. Even though there was a caution to pull him back to the pack there were no challenges for the lead. Mike Kondrat finished 1st, second was Shawn Lawler, 3rd Si Allen, 4th Chad Dow, 5th Clay Dow and 6th Bruce Kimball.
Although Mike won the feature the big winner of the evening was Chad Dow. Chad started in 5th, stayed out of trouble and finished 4th thereby wrapping up the SCONE and Legion Speedway points championships. 2 point Championships for 2008. Congratulations Chad.
Shawn Lawler Gets His 3rd Win
Legion Speedway (legionspeedway.tripod.com) Wentworth, NH 9/13/08. Saturday saw the SCONE sprints once again at Legion Speedway with 7 cars in attendance.
In the heat it was Shawn Lawler in the 18L first, Mike Kondrat in the 5 second and Si Allen in the 88 third. Remaining finishers were: 4th Bruce Kimball in the 10, 5th Lacey Hanson in the 33, 6th Chad Dow in the 59 and 7th was Clay Dow in the 58.
In the feature Mike Kondrat jumped out with the early lead with Shawn following. There was a great race within a race during the middle laps when Chad and Si ran side-by-side for 4 laps. Shawn was able to get by Mike on lap 17 for the win. Finishers were: Mike Kondrat 2nd, Chad Dow 3rd, Clay Dow 4th, Si Allen 5th, Bruce Kimball 6th and Lacey Hanson 7th.
Double points on the 20th at Legion. See you there.

Legion Speedway (legionspeedway.tripod.com) Wentworth, NH 9/06/08. Track Management did us a favor and called the race at 1:00 pm. Thank you Legion. We have to tow 2+ hours and were just hooking up the truck to the trailer when we got the call from Irma. The call was really appreciated.
Next race is Saturday 9/13 at Legion. The scehdule has been revised to reflect the change/addition of the Season Championship race on 9/20 and Mechanics night on the 27th.
Don't forget. Sunday the 14th is Sprint Car Fun Day at Legion from 10:00 to 3:00. Here's your chance to get that person (guy or gal) that's been talking about maybe, possibly running a sprint, into a car under a controlled environment. Only a couple cars on the track at a time. Should be fun. See you there. 
Clay Dow Rings up #3
Legion Speedway (legionspeedway.tripod.com) Wentworth, NH 8/30/08. We only had 6 cars tonight as we lost a few to accidents the night before at Canaan.
In the heat it was all Mark Cole in his 6X followed by Bruce Kimball in the 10 and Shawn Lawler in the 18L. Remaining finishers were: 4th Si Allen in the 88, 5th Clay Dow in the 58 and Chad Dow in the 59.
In the feature Si Allen jumped out to an early lead but Clay Dow tracked him down and passed him for the win. Finishing order was: 1st Clay Dow, 2nd Si Allen (who says he feels like a Dow Sandwich) 3rd Chad Dow, 4th Shawn Lawler, 5th Mark Cole and 6th Bruce Kimball.

Mark Cole Gets His 4th Win
Canaan Dirt Speedway (canaandirtspeedway.com) Canaan, NH 8/29/08. We had 11 cars in attendance for our last SCONE show of the season at Canaan.
In the 1st heat it was Bruce Kimball in his 10 car for first followed by Mike Kondrat in the 5 car and Chad Dow in the #59. Other finishers were: Chris Sweeney in the 1 car for 4th, Mark Cole in the 6X, 5th and Lacey Hanson in the 33 for 6th. In the 2nd heat it was Shawn Lawler in the 18L first with Clay Dow in the 58 2nd and Donny Sharp Jr in the 28NH 3rd. Curt Bradshaw in the X2 was 4th followed by Si Allen in the 88 for 5th.
The feature was all you could ask of a SCONE race. It had it all. From a spectacular accident to a thrilling finish with lots of side-by-side racing. At lap 19 several cars came together resulting in Mike Kondrat taking a wild flip down the front stretch. Thankfully everyone was ok. At least physically. Their cars were hurting. At the finish, Mark Cole nipped Shawn at the wire for the win. It was so close that I was unable to see who had won and had to wait for the announcer to tell me. Finishing order was 1st Mark Cole, 2nd Shawn Lawler, 3rd Clay Dow, 4th Chris Sweeney, 5th Curt Bradshaw, 6th Bruce Kimball and 7th Si Allen. Remaining finishers with mechanical problems were Donny Sharp Jr, 8th, Chad Dow 9th, Mike Kondrat 10th and Lacey Hanson 11th.
Lawler Gets His Second Win
Legion Speedway (legionspeedway.tripod.com) Wentworth, NH 8/23/08. Although there were only 8 sprints in attendance we had an exciting night.
In the heat it was Shawn Lawler in the 18L taking first followed by Bruce Kimball in the 10 car and Mike Kondrat in the 5 for second and third. Remaining finishers were: Si Allen, 88 4th; Clay Dow, 58 5th; Chad Dow, 59 6th and Lacey Hanson, 33, 7th. Curt Bradshaw in the X2 was a scratch.
The feature was limited to 10 laps because of time constraints. Shawn started on the outside pole and had the lead by the first turn. But he didn't run away with it. On lap 2 Lacey and Curt had a collision on the 3rd turn resulting in Lacey going out on the hook. On the restart Shawn got a good lead but Clay was moving up. It was a really good race with Clay eventually getting along side Shawn on the back stretch but not quite able to pull off the pass in the limited laps available. If it had gone 20 laps as originally scheduled it might have been a different story. Results were Shawn Lawler 1st followed by Clay Dow 2nd and Chad Dow 3rd. Following them were: Mike Kondrat 4th, Bruce Kimball 5th, and Si Allen 6th. Curt Bradshaw was 7th and Lacey Hanson 8th, both with mechanical problems.
